(Photograph by Kathy Atkinson, University of Delaware) Emily DeWoolfson (b. 1992) is a composer of vocal and instrumental music. She is studying composition with Dr. Jennifer Barker at the University of Delaware as she works toward a Master's degree. Emily received her bachelor's in composition at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia, studying under Dr. Christopher Cook. Emily has previously studied piano with Anna Ouspenskaya and Joseph Winters, accordion with Dale Wise, voice with Stacy Bell and Christopher Mooney, and composition with Anna Ouspenskaya and Marc William Hoffeditz. Emily's strongest passion is writing for the voice, especially using her own text. She frequently draws from literary and philosophical themes as subject matter, marrying these with multimedia exercises, electro-acoustic music, and a style subtly reminiscent of folk.
